When I learned of my diabetes status a year ago this month
I took weighing myself daily..
such fluctuations bothered me.
A year later once a week is my schedule for checking..
as a result I have found the conclusion more attractive
when it comes to the satisfaction of weight loss.

PS., and to repeat what I have said in earlier posts
reducing carbohydrates is most beneficial in achieving such a goal.

On a personal front I used to weigh 182 kilos
more than 12 and half stone
height 171 cm 5 foot eight inches
waist 95cm 38inches
now 170 kilos just over a eleven stone
waist 86 cm. 34 inches
And I am happy with that so much so my diabetes status
at this stage doe not require medication to help combat
the effects of same.

I hope you become rather obsessed with weight loss. Nothing could produce more improvement in your life. I'm needing a bit of that myself...the mirror is no longer my friend.

I am Obese at the moment. By the technical definition. I have taken to making up fat person songs.
I will see how I fair on the scales this Sunday. I havn't exercised at all this week as work was too intense.
Will exercise on Saturday.
All for now,
PS Some good news is that some pants I bought when I was 105kgs no longer fit as they are too loose.

Here is a fat person song:
"Oh the levels of my fatness know no bounds, Oh the levels of my fatness know no bounds, yes the levels of my fatness, yes the levels of my fatness, The levels of my fatness know no bounds."

I'm also trying to exercise and increase my cardiovascular fitness. Power and strength has always been somewhat attractive and important to me, but these days I just want to make my heart stronger. To that end, I purchased a heart rate monitor function capable watch, but how accurate it is, I am not sure. It suggests that my resting heart rate is 55ish, sitting around, playing computer games, or cleaning, around 80-90, and when I did some exercise today, from 120-140. I hear your maximum heart rate is approximately 200-your age.
I also have a dip/chin up set up... a power station they call it... and I use it sometimes along with the Nike Training Club app for some casual workouts. Google Fit helps out, and I'm considering dropping Sony's lifelog.
I don't really care about my weight and strength numbers as much... Also, my cholesterol is high, so more motivation for exercise.
Walter, thank you for the iciba.com site link... It will help me learn and understand the written Chinese language and how to pronounce some of those words in Mandarin. Do you know if there is a way to make the text all traditional and the pronunciation for Cantonese? Or do you know of a site that is Hong Kong equivalent?
Hi Keith, I took your advice. I hope you are not suffering intolerably from your burn.
Davidt, you give me hope that my dad can take care of his diabetes as well... and maybe I will too, when it's my turn.
Diesel, hi again, I bought an electric guitar and was learning how to play it on rocksmith 2014/rocksmith... I've been discouraged though and actually went back to my violin and electrified it with a pickup.
Hercules I'm overweight as well possibly because of the medication and other things. I respect and cheer on your efforts to keep accountable and make efforts to weight loss.
Hi to everyone else; I hear running is good for you too. Anyone use Strava? It's a good running app; recently it's made the news for revealing heat maps of american military bases XD...

My original intentions came to naught. I've decided to get serious...I bought a new battery for a scale my wife picked it up at a garage sale several years ago...she was about to toss it when I intervened. It's a digital read out instead of our old hard to read spring/dial type. Anyway, yesterday it read 185.4 and the day before: 185.9...today (2/28) it was 184.8. I'm dropping approximately a half pound a day (226 Mg). At that rate, I'll be good in a month. I need the technical feedback in fractions just to perceive incremental progress. I think I can do this. The weather is breaking, if I get out and about...the increments will expand. I really must do this...no options. Hi Meds...welcome to the fat burners club.
Edit (3/2) 184.0 (It'd be less if I hadn't eaten a half package of cookies last night)

Hi all,
Today I went on the scale and it says that I am 224.5 pounds which means that I lost 10 pounds since the beginning of January. I have limited my sweet intake to only once a week and cut out all pop from my life. Also, this week I started to exercise for half an hour with an aerobic program on YouTube called the Biggest Loser Low Intensity workout.
I only burn 150 Calories from the workout so it is way easier to limit my diet instead of exercising like crazy which I cannot do because I really hate exercising.

Going to the gym 4 or 5 times a week now. Starting to get back a bit of muscle definition. Doing a class then it's my weight lifting for an hour.
I thought it would be a hassle to get up and do a 7 am class and then work out for an hour on the weights but so far it has been a very easy transition. I want to go to the gym. I am motivated to try an stay healthy and strong through diet and exercise. It works and if people tell you otherwise they are lying. Proof is in the pudding.
I am going to try and cut out refined sugar in my diet. This is going to be a struggle, especially for me. I love chocolate.

My wife and I, along with two grandkids, hiked out to the back of our property and circled back through dense brush and fallen trees. The great majority of our land is wilderness and I'm planting pine seedlings to landscape privacy into some potential camp/home sites. It was about an hour and covered a winding trail perhaps a kilometer long...I only tripped and fell on half buried tree limbs twice. By the time we got back we were all sweating even though the temp was no more than 55F degrees.
I can do this once a day if I'm not exerting myself any other way. I do enjoy it and find something new about the plants or topographical features every time I wander out there. I'm feeling more confident now as Pisces recedes and Aries approaches. Decisions have been made, now it's time for action. Spring is three days away...March 20, 11:15 AM CST.
