Hi,
I remember feeling this way:" At the moment I get through one day at a time as my depression has hit rather hard, I have spent the last few days in bed. I dont think death bothers me when I am like this at least sadness will be no more...on a good day I cherish every second and I plan to have a good day but I have been crying which is unusual. These illnesses are the pits." It's the laying in bed thing that gets really bad. I recall a period of weeks where I seldom bathed or brushed my teeth...just layed in bed and endured the darkness that exists in every soul. It's so damned hard to recognize depression as something irrational when you're in it's midst. The whole world seems bleak and hope is gone. I was lucky, my wife kept pushing me to get up and function. Eventually, I could force myself to go out into the fresh air and light. Baby steps Sue.
There's a way to garden in heat. It's all about water and shade...you might give this a read: www.grow-it-organically.com/container-garden-temperature.html Of course, you must reverse certain directions...the article was about northern hemispere gardens. You would want a south facing garden shadowed by your house. Containers are handy because they're portable...thus you control their climate by location (shade). Study the progression (timing) of the sunlight as it traverses your garden...move them accordingly. It's great therapy for me but we're all different.
Yes, the political world reeks of corruption and greed. We have such incredible potential but our leaders only see the present gain as opposed to future development...we must promote ourselves. I'm trying to guide my son's vocational interests. He hates factory work and won't learn a trade so his options are limited. I'm advising him to take a prison guard job. It's federal with good pay and benefits and there's no shortage of inmates in this country. We have the highest incarceration rate of any...might as well take advantage of it.
Try to develop a daily routine that will counter the depression. Every day, force yourself to do certain tasks. It's irrelevant what they are...just do them every day at a specific time. Add some more when you feel up to it...gradual recovery. Say hi to Mozart.

Cheers for the 'catch up' Sue
and for your feedback also Keith.
For I tend to learn from both of you
just by what you both say
when interacting with each other.

Hi Keith and David,
Keith I have a south facing shade house that looks into my bahroom that we acre clearing rom vines so will check out that link.
Pdoc upped my morning antid and I do feel better for it, otherwise it was hospital this week. I told my son and he said if you need to go into hopsital I will house sit, he is a good lad. Currently I am paying off a huge power bill and a speding fine so it really limits my activities and I have declined offers to help with the bills. Once they are paid off I will realize how cheaply I can live and save that same amount. My power has gone from $31 a week to $82 a week...huge jump.
So glad I bought my tiny car for fuel eficiency.
Mozart went to the vet for his annual check up yesterday and was a toad...lol...didn't want to play that game but really I just needed him vaccinated...bills can wait he needs his shots.
Then I have been with out internet except on my phone and he disliked tha man immensly, first time ever, still having no real internet from Friday to Wednesday was a new experience.
Yes I was very down, on my way up again though.
See pdoc again on Friday.
Hope you are all well.
Cheers

A shade house sounds made to order for a shielded garden. I so enjoy working with plants and soil. I'm teaching my youngest grandson about seedlings and conditioning...he's enthralled. At his age and perspective of time, the young plants growing so quickly reflect his own explosive growth...he's six. It's such a pleasure talking with a mind so innocent and inquiring.
I'm sorry you have to deal with such a spike in power prices. I keep running into stories of Australian opal miners who live in their mines which maintain a constant 55F (12.8C) degrees. Their power costs are nil. I know you can't start digging an opal mine at this point in your life...just musing. I understand your financial situation and how Mozart gets priority...they become very loved family. I'm glad you have him. I've used my credit to stockpile some emergency food, fuel, and equipment resources. It's going to be difficult to pay off but if they become necessary, they'll be invaluable.
Speaking of emergencies...Trump's warning the Russians to expect a missile attack from us in response to Assad's gassing of civilian children in Syria. By the time he gets around to it, they will have hidden their planes and weapons among the Russian military. If we hit them...bye bye civilization. Trump wants a diversion from impeachment worries and it's media coverage. I urge you to stock up some rations. If your garden can produce, any glass jar with a twist on cover can be used for canning. If it were just me, I wouldn't be doing this. A post nuclear world doesn't appeal to me but again...grandkids. Sorry, my mood can become macabre at the drop of a hat these days. Take care Sue.

Hi Keith
You ispired me to repot my orchid the kids gave me last May ( Mothers day) It is still green but had stopped flowering and was in a tiny pot so I but some fertilizer and mixed that with some old pottin mix and repotted it hoping it will grow some flowers, the grand childrn love that it is still alive.
Yes I will eat rice for a while before Mozart or Sox goes without and parvo is rife over here and he is my travelling companion so he hits the top of the priority list.
My friend Jeff has offered to pay my power bill but at this stage I think Iwill just muddle my way through with it, it was a very kind gesture...I tell you what I am becoming more energy efficient every day...now if Mozart needs an operation or something I will gladly let him help.
Well us Aussies are worried about Trump and the Ruskies as well...we have kicked out diplomats...I think...however we are being more concerned about a bloody cricket ball.
My mood can drop too, Jeffs cancer has taken a turn for the worse and yesterday he was matter of factly telling me he was getting things organized, I have seen him sell many things in the last few months but was happy when he bought a new pup...he is a doglover and when his young son moved out the dog went too. He tolerates Mozart as a package deal...he comes on all our car rides strapped in on his cushion with his little seat belt so he can see out of the window...so very cute, I tried to down load a icture of him in the passenger seat but the filewas too big.
I am glad theincreased medication is working, I was feeling like I needed to be in hospital...but not now.
Off to see pdoc today.
Water over here is incredibly expensive...we dont water in summer but rely on the rain that comes in late April to refresh things.
I am glad you have your garden.
Mid 20s here today, nice pleasant autumn weather.
Wishing everyone the best .

Hi David, I still see pdoc once a week am on a cocktail of medication. I go to the pool once or twice a week and that makes me feel good and I seem to get more done those days. It has been winter here so my beach outing has been curtailed as I have had the flu but when well and the weather permits I take Mozart fo a 40 minute drive to the beach and we just walk and enjoy the change of scenery. I hope you are keeping well. I will be 60 next month...amazing. I am currently on an anticonvulsant medication that reduces appetite...yay. I see the eye sugeon on Tuesday to find out if I need surgery for my glaucoma. It is the first day of spring here but we need more ain, having quite a severe drought. Hope you are well and happy. Thanks for checking in on me.
