Yes you are right Hercules , in that I was pre diabetic for two years then I took my eye of the ball weight and exercise wise and then it came to me... in February this year. However because of my cutting down on carbs. replacing same with more protein reducing my weight as a result.. going down from over 81 to 69kilos over time. Has meant I now have my diabetes under control without resorting to medication for same. Therefore it is very much manageable as I speak! What do you have to do to manage it?

Keeping my weight down , which I am doing by cutting down on carbs, cookies, cake pastries confectionary such as chocolate candies and so forth and replacing same with a high protein alternative such as fish, lean meat cheese in small measure. semi skimmed milk, nuts and what have you. And equally important exercise which doesn't burn off that many calories but it is essential for someone with diabetes for circulation purposes. if we get that balance right, complications have less chance of developing such as blindness gangrene and other nastier health problems such as kidney disease etc.

I am a member of the gym here and try to attend at least one water class a week which is the equivalent cost of my membership per week but I find it is really hard to get the motivation to go...it is easier to stay put in my safe little house but I enjoy it when I get there and the other ladies are nice but really it is getting my head into gear that is the issue.

I did step aerobics today, I stepped on the scale and it was 106Kgs.
At least I have stopped putting on weight recently.
At christmas time I was 98Kgs

Wow. Good efforts over here. I laughed when I heard stopping at 70 to 80 percent full. I would love to do that. Doesn't seem to be happening especially when I try not to eat. I get more hungry then.
But I do try to eat healthy when I can. My newest Evfort is working out three times a week. Been successful for almost 3 weeks now. 30 minutes elliptical stair master and then some weights. I hope it helps. Today is my first work out for this week.

Excuse my ignorance Jody
could you inform me on what this stair master exercise is all about?

Well a stair master is a nonimpact version of running. A machine of sorts. You set your time and difficulty and off you go. I go for 30 minutes each time but it isn't easy really. You build up. You don't need more than an hour st one time ever as your difficulty is customized to you for a max of one hour. 30 is good though. You might google a picture for an idea.
I like it because I use to perform step aerobics and my knees didn't like it. I also try to lift weights. Today chest and shoulders. Years ago I worked out all the time. It was great. You get old and motivation can go out the window. But I am trying.
I work full time w about 2 hours drive a day. Makes me exhausted so I am trying to fit it in as I can. I have been down a lot lately and this is my effort to help it. I am reclusive and certainly not social so this makes my life a bit better.
I will let you all know how I do. My goal is to lose 10 lbs which honestly is probably not a lot but I am quite out of shape. Mostly I change my diet. I will post a thread about it soon if I can get motivated. All this activity can be quite draining on me. I haven't talked to anyone except egor about my life in greater than two years.
Generally I try to eat a modified low carb diet. Nothing white if I can. No bread potatoes sugar wheat rice. It works well for diabetes. I can't seem to limit quantity well. I am a stress eater.

Good to see that you started this thread. It is so important to get some kind of daily exercise not just for weight loss but for health as well.

Walked for 80 minutes today. Theoretically you should walk that long every day. My goal is just to clock it in once per week. I can tell when I am losing weight from exercising and I don't reach that feeling today. But my shoulders relaxed, and I worked out some stress.

Clocked it at 106 again today so at least the gain in weight has been stopped.
