I agree with what you say here Walter
There is a paradoxical dichotomy, a tangible undercurrent, when it come
to globalization and cultural diversity....
On one hand, globalization has the potential to mobilize and empower people,
provide a means for self-representation, support a collective identity
through socialization and provide economic opportunities.
On the other hand, it has the ability to disempower people..
because diversity as failed somewhat, in promoting the expectations
that most folk want to achieve, at a local level , in their one to one
relationship with others...
in their own country , as opposed to a world wide approach...
which is what globalisation is all about.

and nationalism isnt racism because many races live in usa or canada and even mexico and even china has different tribes or groups that fought for centuries maybe and the same is true with russia and the Nordic countries with asian Lapps

In Shenyang, where I live, we do have some foreigners from Russia, Japan, Korea, EU and English speaking countries.
Shenyang is the central city in Northeast China, but Shenyang is smaller than Beijing and/or Shanghai, which are the two biggest international cities in China.
Foreigners come to Shenyang to do business, to teach foreign languages, to go sightseeing, to go jobhunting, ect.
