Yes it is amazing how far the smoke travels, the air in Canberra , our capital was the worst on the planet the other day.So many animals have died, it is really sad and as we are in a drought there is little water available to fight the fires.I just get the smoke here. Yes Admin it has spread to NZ...amazingly sad.

From the NZ PM
"Even before we saw the smoke from the fires across the ditch, I know we were already thinking of our friends and neighbours in Australia. It’s been devastating to watch from afar, I can only imagine what it feels like to experience it directly.
Next week New Zealand will send another team of 22 firefighters and logistical support to join the rotation of more than 150 kiwis that we have had working alongside our Australian counterparts since October.
I’ve been in contact with the Australian PM again this week to share our support and to offer whatever we can to help. Australia stood by us through some horrific moments in 2019, and we’re here to do the same."

"Today we confirmed that our defence force will be assisting Australia with their response to the catastrophic fires.
Engineers and three NH90s (twin engine helicopters) will be deployed to Australia to support them as they continue to battle the fires raging across multiple areas.
This is by no means the only thing we can do to help, and we’re at the ready and talking to our neighbours frequently. I’ll keep you all updated."

Hi, yes lots of fires put down to arson and conspiracy theories about government wanting to clear land...also blaming green political party for stopping grazing and back burning of undergrowth in bush. Once farmers could graze their cattle and keep the vegetation low. It has NEVER been this bad. In my state we have an island, Kangaroo island, it is pretty big and it is all but burnt out. It was home to our koalas...very sad. From my home I can see the smoke across the plains and you just get used to the wood fire smell. There have been small fires in my area and two of my friends further east were evacuated but I am in a town so pretty safe I hope....but it is dreadful further north.Thats an update.Hope you are all well.
