On virtually every web site I know of people are bickering about politics because the current state of affairs in the US particularly and around the world is controversial.
One web site I know of has created a political sub-forum to quarantine discussion to one place. They also made that sub forum user beware and posted "enter at own risk".
I don't favour that extreme measure here but would like to solicit opinions as I think our web site can suffer from divisive political discussion as well.
Suggestions and comments please from the group.
Please do not use this as a platform to share your political views - looking for comments on how we can insure we are not divisive like other websites are.

I remember some months ago suggesting a controversial section
which was rejected at the time as out of order by several members.
In the fulness of time it has been revisited in light of some of the extreme stuff
that has come to light in recent times although it was in evidence then also.
As it appears to be coming in the main from one source, ( both then and now),
and that individual doesn't take in to account some sort of restraint, I really
do not think having as you call it a quarantine area would be adhered too.
I think the best way forward is to do what you are currently doing,
that is continuing to edit and in extreme circumstances deleting such
unwholesome stuff.
Trusting eventually that they get the message and curtail such anarchy.

What I am trying to get across Hercules
with only about six of us sharing here on
a regular basis to make thing about it
at this time...
I would consider counter productive.
Obviously if we expand somewhat
then I would go for it.
Just my to cents worth as ever!

trump seems american friendly but Palestinians get it bad-im confused and disgusted and democrats i dont trust either-maybe ill have to leave the country
eastern Europe sounds ok except Ukraine

The composition sounds as if verbosity were a virtue. Well, I suppose we can quarantine us two representing 1/3 of all regular contributors. In conclusion to what I posted earlier may I point out it is my firm belief
no one individual is good or bad...
we are ALL (in my opinion) a seething contradiction of both Paul.

No lines were crossed. I appreciated your comments and perhaps should have had s controversial section as you suggested. Paul says in this thread he is over politics. I think most of us have grown saturated by it. As I say my observation is that most web communities have been hit by bickering as I can’t personally recall such controversial times. |

Just what concerns are there regarding our discourse? Are you worried about the FBI or CIA monitoring us for seditious content. Or is it the emotional sensibilities of our tiny group at the core of your...concerns. Do you seriously think anyone would bother with an obscure site using relatively mild and non confrontational discussion for amusement and communication. And as far as our members go, why do we have to restrict what is mild to begin with...just who are Paul and I offending? If we really wanted conciliation, would we start with divisive references to "Us and Them". You wanted a serious comment...there you go. David included me with Paul so I'm including you with him. Fair enough?
