I know Herc's post was intended as a mere segue to our blog section but I feel the topic deserves greater exposure. Advice about women is at a premium these days. Popular books ("Men Are From Mars, Women..."), the current "Me too" movement, and Trumps obvious contempt for the gender all serve to amplify the female noise coming down the media pike every day. Suddenly, the feminine mystique is under scrutiny and getting attention.
Women are wonderful. You all know I worship Nature...they are the reason why. All my life, they've been there for me. Now, they are demanding respect, positions of responsibility, and more protection under the law. When my father died at 39 in 1950 (with 0 insurance), my mother was forced to support and care for three kids. She was screwed over by male dominated unions for jobs. After world war 2, the unions made sure the returning GI's would have jobs by refusing to hire qualified women for jobs men wanted. She had been trained as a Linotype operator and wrote occasional columns for a local newspaper in the small town where we lived before being uprooted into the big city ghetto. They refused to hire her at the newspaper there citing the union law, so she went to work in a factory for 30 years. I saw her bend but never break.
She would have been ambivalent regarding the current situation. She would applaud the respect, position, and legal recognition women are gaining but would look askance at any loss of feminine tradition. She was something of a contradiction...like the other hundred or so women I've lived with. That is their charm...to be mysterious and even devious while remaining supportive and loyal. I've met a few I didn't like but the ratio, compared to men, is small.
Anyway, what do you people think? Should we be pleased and encouraging regarding women's new role or is it intimidating and disruptive?

I'm very surprised nobody reacted to this question. ("Anyway, what do you people think? Should we be pleased and encouraging regarding women's new role or is it intimidating and disruptive?")
I can only assume nobody's interested in women's rights or nobody's interested in responding to my personal views. In any event...so be it. I'll try not to waste my time like this anymore.

I didn't respond as 1) it was in the main forum and for some reason that put me off as it is a topic that I would have preferred being off the record 2) being a politically correct person, I was going to have wordsmith my answer for a long time to avoid offending anyone. Sorry for not responding at all. I think the last reason no one responded heath is that it was the second post in a non related thread - so once you read it you forgot about it unless you responded immediately.

There are many women who do hate men and consider them as oppressors. They are, however....in a minority. Most women, from my experience, are fond of men even beyond the normal sexual attraction. They can, and do feel we can be loving, caring, and supportive human beings. This guy sounds like another misogynist who is insecure and unstable.
Having said that, I think the subject of Herc's inquiry might well belong to the former group.
