Rather than aiming to say do the dishes and then finding yourself unable to summon up the energy to start.
Plan on doing 3 to 4 tasks back to back.
Once you get underway it is easy to keep going and keep cleaning and even keep it up for 1.5 hours.
Conclusion plan on doing all your chores once a day all together.
My tip for those with negative symptoms.

I agree Hercules that keeping up a positive momentum invaluable.
Hence the reason I contribute so much here it distracts me from having time on my hands to conjure up negativity both in thought and action.

Which reminds me of...
The Devil Makes Work for Idle Hands is a greatest hits album released by the New Zealand band Head Like A Hole.
I am as sure as I can be that you know of them being a home grown band.

Hey Hercules. Although there are a few posts still missing here, they don't appear to be returning
anytime soon, so, I guess I will go ahead and respond to your post...Rather than aiming to say do the dishes and then finding yourself unable to summon up the energy to start. Plan on doing 3 to 4 tasks back to back. Once you get underway it is easy to keep going and keep cleaning and even keep it up for 1.5 hours. Conclusion plan on doing all your chores once a day all together. My tip for those with negative symptoms. Hercules This is good, sound advice Hercules, except that I can not physically do that. During all those surgeries, and the residual mobility issues, at one point they did a x-ray on my back, and found that there is some degeneration near the base of my spine.
Used to, before my joints and spine went to poop, tho I still lacked the energy and motivation to do the chores, I would set the timer on my phone for about 30 minutes, and then start doing chores. Most of the time, when the alarm sounded, I was too involved in what I was doing to want to stop, and would keep going for longer. Then I'd take a break, and then reset the timer for another 20 minutes. That 20 min. stint might be in the FLYlady book.
Unfortunately, nowadays, my back doesn't have the stamina to let me stand in one place for long, or to do any one thing for any real amt of time. I do adapt a lot of things, and often, I will work to the point where I am about to puke if I don't sit down, or where I am shaking just a bit. Those are my cues to take a break.
Sometimes I take longer breaks than I should, and that is often my downfall.
Most weeks, I try to get all the chores done between Sunday evening and Wednesday afternoon.

It does help to come and read, and to socialize with others. It helps encourage me to find the silver lining of life, and helps push back the depression.
Also, I too, am grateful to Hercules for finding us a new house (site), and making it a home (with fellowship).
Have a good day friend!
