Hi all,
I was wondering if you guys can recall the last time you travelled. How did you adjust to the new environment and was it an enjoyable experience for you while travelling. I am anxious about an upcoming potential trip to my birthplace and I appreciate some feed back on travelling.

Hi all, it's me fleurette. I posted this topic but didn't know that I had to sign in each time. That is why I didn't understand why they had me fill in a guest name. Sorry for the misunderstanding. It was me posting here on this thread. Thanks David T for your reply.

Ahh ok then - sorry you threw me for a loop Fleurette.
Next time you login - click on remember me - and it should ask you less frequently to login.
Because of your post as a Guest I changed the settings so that Guests and anonymous people can't see our community in a day or two I will start a vote on what the whole group thinks of that. Do we want to be an open community or a closed community.
I am going to start some discussion threads shortly. As I think 6 people is enough to get things going.

It was ok but I thought I should have made more plans as I ended up putting pressure on him to entertain me a little bit. Probably two weeks is good if you don't have much plans or other people to see in that city. |

I travelled to Botswana three months ago, then 2 weeks prior to that I was in Namibia... all for work. I might be going to England next year. Depends on what happens in the next three four months.

We avoid traveling to any large cities unless it's unavoidable. The last (non city) adventure was to northern Minnesota to visit my cousin. Talk about total wilderness. She lives in a small retirement/tourist community that's insulated from social strife and economic vacillation. The big crime of the year might be the Mayor's gardener turned dogcatcher by bribery and there are no factories to close down.
I've seen enough world to regard it with caution and appreciate the sanctuary I have. There's not a lot of culture here but there is freedom. I must say I envy Charne's African experience. F Scott Fitzgerald loved the place...I can see why.

It depends on what you love about Africa. It's good it's good and bad points. Like every other place in the world. Nature is beautiful but when the droughts hit, every creature and plant dies and it's detrimental to the tribal communities that rely on the water resources like the dams and rivers.

A couple of weeks ago and although it turned out well
I had as usual pre nerves as I do every time I leave home
for more than just the day.
The thing is I prefer my own bed and bathroom
Who doesn't?

Last time I traveled was for my old job but I can't remember where I went.
I am si glad I don't have to travel for work any longer.
the last time i traveled for recreation was to see my family. It was a good visit and I miss them dearly.
