Depending on what kind of overthinking but generally I say the cure is writing, if you can enjoy it. Imagine how much thinking went into writing this brick of a book, I bought a copy at a flea market because it was cheap like a number of books I've bought but am yet to read don't know how long it would take to read this or if I ever will but just to consider how long it would take to read it to how long it must have taken to write it how much thinking was put into it.

I read a really thick book called the Vampire Chronicles by Ann Rice. It's actually 3 progressive plot line stories made into one book. I think it took me about a week to read it. Once I got into the characters and the over stories and history of everything I couldn't for the life of me put the book down. I took it everywhere I went. If I had a spare couple of moments I would read. It was one of the best books that I have ever read.
I can't even imagine putting together a book like this. Can you imagine the thought processes? The twists and turns in this book were so intriguing.
I have picked up 2 books and read them through since I started playing guitar and being in 2 bands now. I used to love reading 1 or two books a week. That's how much I used to read but I love my guitar and my bands so much more. My time is devoted to my obsessive love affair with music and my instruments. To excel in any instrument you pick up, you have to be obsessive about it.
My mission in life is to touch other people with my music even if it's for a minute or two.
I want to share some of the incredible happiness that I have with my guitars.

Yes, I agree about writing our thoughts down Mike.. .
I've not written book but I do record quite a lot of my thoughts
and find such a strategy helpful in that it empties my mind.
I have said before now in our last home, that sometimes I wake in the night
because my thoughts are working overtime. I keep a jotter handy put down
what I am and thinking and usually go back to sleep fulfilled.

Mike
It is a good way to write down what one is thinking to cure overthinking. Also, there could be something wrong with one's mental health if one always overthinks and repeat what one thinks again and again.

I agree Walter but then most here have mental health issues or they wouldn't be here at all is what I suggest.

My cure for overthinking is a late night smoke. BTW...I quit tobacco two years ago.

Actually, I have no overthinking problems. My sleep at night is good and I just got a slight headache.

Thank you David. Are you ok to live alone? Do you like to go to a care garden where the old can be cared about?

Thank you for your concern Walter Something I appreciate however I am not quite ready for that,
However, the time will come (if I live long enough) to consider such a move.
