Hi everyone,
Hercules said in his blog that everyone here is so smart so I wanted to post the question. Do you consider yourself smart? What topics are you most well versed in?
I for one have been put down by my brother for being dumb every since I got ill and dropped out of pharmacy school. When I was in grade 11 I won top scholar award for my grade and for grade 12 I was tied for third top academic grades.
But since, I have been ill I feel myself getting unwise about most common topics. I made a few bad decisions such as to overdose on my medications twice. It was a very stupid thing to do so I am not proud of it. But sharing it here because it is another way that I am dumb.
I am especially bad at computers and technology. I don't like to read the newspaper.
But I do have a little extra interest in the spiritual things. So I go to bible study and read my bible. I am trying to read all of the New Testement first before tackling the old. I like studying the bible because I believe it's the only thing that last until eternity.
So Hercules, thank you for thinking that we are all smart here on his temporary social forum, but I say my intellect is mediocore if that.
What does everyone else say about their brain power?

I think one of my better traits is intelligence. I generally feel stimulated mentally. But I must be humble and I admit I have some other qualities that are like weaknesses. My doctor told me recently to try to balance positive thinking more with the negative thinking. He said to "fill your house with good thoughts." Fleurette, some people I know think they are not intelligent but they really are. I think this may be your case. You are articulate and that is a form of intelligence. Anyone who participates here and is able to express themselves is probably intelligent.

I have been members of other sports web sites where the other fans have been quite stupid at times. E.g each player they talk about is only as good as their last three appearances. There are two reasons I believe all of you are smart. 1) Half of you are older than me and wisdom permeates all of your posts. 2) The ladies and gents younger than me can keep up with my thoughts no matter how complex I make them. They themselves also post quality and complex thoughts themselves. And Mike if you are reading this I include you. I think you are both very funny and very smart. Here are some awards off the cuff to make your days if you are reading this post: Most spiritually aware - Keith Most emotionally intelligent - David Most intuitive - Khaz Most Knowledgeable about Rock Music - Dee Most artistic - Aquatic Soul Deepest thinker - a tie between Mike and Computer Chip Nicest Member - Walter Chang Best team player - Chelle Weirdest taste in music - Medicated Knows the 2nd most about meditation - Crysalis Most articulate - Fleurette (e.g. good use of fiercest in your blog today) Most thought provocative - Paul Deepest personal insights - Thatsright If I were to give myself an award then it would be discernment. I have always worked hard on spotting peoples strengths.

I personally wish I was about 5-10 points less smart. The happiest people on earth and those with about 125 IQ points according to a study. I figure I am about 130. Sometimes I spot flaws in situations and people that others can't see and people don't like me when I share them.

I have been gifted an IQ of about 120-129 (superior range) according to the Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale III in 2008-2009. But the same report's data suggests that I have deficits in attention, memory, and executive functioning. (thanks sz) Fleurette, I think you're smart to have been in pharmacy school at all to begin with. Computer chip, your choice of tag is telling. Hercules, I would love to hear you weigh in on what you mean by weirdest taste in music as my intellectual superior www.youtube.com/watch?v=gfXDVp7K12c

Smart....mmm...
When I was younger I won academic awards and excelled in my chosen profession...
Then I married and had children and gave all that up to work for the family business.....was that smart...NO However it meant I could have my cake and eat it too, work around the kids and so be there for important events...so it was a compromise.
My husband asked for a divorce when youngest child was 6 months old and I refused....NOT SMART 15 years later he told me he had hated me for the last 15 years.
I ended up with a lovely little house in a lovely little part of a town I love and a decent car to drive if I have enough cash to put petrol in it. Smart no lucky.
I now take one day at a time and know my options for my future dreams are amazingly restricted and that is sad however taking one day at a time is SMART.
Being medication compliant is SMART
Seeing pdoc weekly is SMART
Accepting aging is SMART...but I refuse to go grey lol
Falling for a 70 year old man who treats me like a princess....well that is just down right scary...lol
Having a little dog that loves me unconditionally is brilliant.
Cheers

With all this talk about medicating being smart
i just want to say, I was and am scared stupid
because i consider taking medication for something you don't think you have, stupid
but it's what makes life interesting...

I don't think I'm so much a deep thinker as observant, I think I'm perceptive, resourceful , I have a good memory. I have learned good self control and I think I've come a long way in the last 6 years I've been out of hospital. I think I have the most eclectic taste in music and entertainment for sure. I think the most likable thing about me to other people is my sense of humour. I wonder sometimes what it would be like to be somebody else and spend a day with me. I like to think it might be fun lol.

interesting.
I fall up high in the upper echelons of IQ scoring but I prefer not to say what it is. I do have the results. My emotional instability however undermines a lot of the things I do, unless I am left alone in a room and let my focus zoom in on the task at hand. I think too much. Biggest problem if not managed

Hi Charne
Yes my educational intelligence has won me awards but my emotional instability has failed me....and that is why I present as being a capable person but in reality I am just getting through each and every day without my illness rearing its ugly head and that precludes me from working and hence having a lifestyle of my choosing...so I hear you...however you are doing a great job...Yes give me a task and I excel but human interaction...well that is purely a spectator sport for me.
Cheers lovely one.

Reply: To tell you the truth, I think too much too. Maybe it is a fault. I will try to recognize when I am doing so. You see, I have lots of boredom.
