Hi guys!
Well this is my second week in bed. I am on the verge of going a bit stir crazy. I have sequestered myself off to the back of the house for fear of getting the rest of my family sick. I did go to work for the first week of this just barely hanging on. It just went from bad to worse and then I decided that I should seek medical attention. I have been put on steroidal nose spray and that's it. My doctor explained that antibiotics will do nothing. It's a nasty flu that keeps on giving. A lot of people at work are down with colds, flu etc. We have basically a skeleton staff at work. There's 5 of us sick at the same time. Things are falling to pieces at work, I am getting texts constantly in regards to things at work. I finally had to put my foot down and told them I am was turning my phone off. I have never been this sick ever. Diarrhea, coughing so hard it induces vomiting, fever and no appetite. It will take some time to get completely over this. This is actually the first day I have gotten out of bed to do something besides go to the washroom.
Anyone else here experiencing seasonal sickness or flu?

Hi Diesel,
I'm sorry to hear your not well. Do t worry about work. You need to get well. It's good that you put your foot down and shut off your phone. I too am sick with some kind of sinus issue. Been on antibiotic and steroid nasal spray for 10 days now with little relief.
I hope you start to get well real soon

These stories make me livid that they are feeding antibiotics to cows and livestock. So rendering them less effective on humans.

We use "Silver Solution" around here. Colloidal silver can kill certain germs by binding to and destroying proteins within them. It's a homeopathic liquid produced by electrode dispersion of pure silver in distilled water. A couple sips a day keeps the bugs away...along with a vitamin and mineral supplement (particularly zink). By overusing antibiotics, we force evolution of ever nastier viruses. The silver creates, within us, a low level physical hostility to germs. It's kind of like how a tiny drop of bleach in a 50 gallon tank destroys all microbes. Multivitamins, minerals, and antioxidants complete a defensive shield against all sorts of diseases and maladys. Most of these can be found in organic foods . Stop overusing salt and sugar...lighten up on carbs and fat. Force yourself to exercise. Wash your hands often...
Antibiotics don't kill viruses. Antibiotics are medicines used to treat infections or diseases caused by bacteria. Antibiotics do not work against viruses. Many common respiratory tract infections such as colds and flu are caused by viruses, so antibiotics are of no use. Most of this advice is late...intended as preventive measures. However, I would suggest immediate use (except for the exercise)...against the next monster. I've been doing this for ten years...in that time, I've had one disabling cold/flu. No kidding. Sorry if I'm lecturing.
Edit: Sue's following remarks about meat prompt me to mention that we get our beef, pork, chicken, and eggs from local family farms who use no antibiotics and allow free range for the animals. There are so many healthy advantages to rural life...I wish all of you could experience them.

I am very sorry to learn of your current illness Dee and hope you get well real soon.
Re antibiotics I can't speak for other countries here in the UK prescribing of antibiotics has been done far to frequently and we are beginning to experience the ills of such over prescribing. ... That's apart from the veterinary input you mention H.

Hi Diesel,
Get well soon. The colloidal silver is very popular over here too.
I have to second what Herc says however these days I eat very little meat due to my finances and buy fruit and veges from the farmers direct...and I havent been healthier...but in intensive animal husbandry, which I detest, the living conditions are that squalid and poor they fill these poor creatures with antibiotics as they are sick where humane living conditions would give them space, fresh air and health but we pay the price with our health and resistance to such bugs...super bugs even.
I am so pleased you are looking after you, i tell chelle that all the time however we have to do what we must do to survive.
Just ride it out like a long laborious piece of music you are just learning and gradually each day will get better.
Look after you xxx

Yes Diesel your doctor is right that if it's a virus the antibiotic will do nothing.
Hercs you are right about the antibiotic in the meat and they pump them up with steroids to get them fatter too so that they can get more money for the meat.
I have to agree with Keith as well. Organic is the way to go if you can afford it. Keith you are so lucky to have access to local meat. For me being on third shift would mean I would hVe to disrupt my sleep to go get local food. It's not feasible at this time for me so yes I am stuck shopping st Walmart because they are open 24 hours.
Before I was fired from my last job I was able to go to the organic stores because I was sleeping at night and on first shift at the time.
The colodial silver I have used in the past as well as oil of oregano however with my history of sinitis, allergies and bronchitis chronic. I have to be careful and take the antibiotics to kill infections especially now with my asthma and emphysema going on. Any little bug can throw me for a exacerbation.
Diesel I hope your feeling better since we last heard from you.

Thanks David. The season so far has been hectic. I am still off the sleeping pills, YEAH!
My sleep patterns are very weird. I can fall asleep when my head hits the pillow but every night guaranteed, I am up for 2 or 3 hrs and then back to sleep. It's a little disconcerting. I am not going back to taking sleeping meds ever.
On the other hand my house looks amazing. We went all out this year and everything thing that you can attach lights to, I did. We have a real 8 foot Pine Christmas tree. The house smells just beautiful.
2 more days and counting and then it's over for another year.
Got a huge snowstorm which left 1 foot or more of snow on the ground. Got my trusty shovel out and started shoveling which you all know is one of my passions. Crisp, clean white snow. It's light and so fluffy. It's so easy to shovel. Great exercise too. Have eaten a way too much chocolates, shortbread and tarts. Great way to burn off the calories.
Wishing you all the best of the season and a happy new year!
My time is limited but you know I will return at one point or another.
Take care my friends. You have all helped me to weather some really tough life situations. I am grateful to you all for this.
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to each and every one of you!
