The Internet ate my first reply to this.
Thanks for posting this Keith, I have been following this story and those cows LOL. I am glad they will be taken to safety.
New Zealand had the Christchurch earthquakes 4 years ago. I read a theory of why there are more earthquakes happening in the world now but can't remember what it was.
The footage I saw - showed roads turned asunder - and large scale damage around the epicentre.
All for now

Interesting possibly.
Heard something about that theory in the past few days.
I amended my reply to you in the election news thread by the way. Interestingly it did not change the time stamp on the post. Still getting used to this site.

Hey Keith
Yes this is horrible news, I have a close friend who's family lives in NZ. I know a few other people there too. I'm hoping they're all ok as some have not made contact yet.

Ah...good, they were rescued. I'm always amazed at people's reaction to suffering animals as opposed to humans. I guess that's because they are so innocent and helpless compared to us. California legalized euthanasia recently...that's a step forward. IMO, anyone terminally ill and suffering should qualify for this mercy. It's rather controversial...what do you think?

I do believe in Belgium there is currently something called elective euthanasia An interesting piece I've watched about 3 weeks ago on the topic: www.youtube.com/watch?v=SWWkUzkfJ4M

I too wonder if they've gone too far in Belgium...or California. Death can seem attractive under depressing circumstances. I guess the idea is to be certain the decision is based on clear (and final) reality. Recently, my 82 year old brother was placed on a morphine drip when his suffering became acute...he took three days to die while the whole family freaked out. I know my brother...ever the considerate person. If it had been available, I'm sure he'd have preferred a quicker exit.

I am thrilled the trans pacific partnership will not be going forward. I Think Hilary was also against this but was less clear and could have flip flopped.

As I've commented before, the TPP was a step toward a world economy and eventually...toward world government. I personally think this is inevitable and by avoiding it, we're just giving China a green light for Pacific expansion. The deal would mostly have benefited the less developed countries in the hemisphere. Instead of extending free trade (and democratic principles), we return to nationalism and competition. This is good or bad, depending on your world view.
