Hi Walter, I believe in a heavenly Father and hold on to my faith despite my illness. Sure time is passing by but why he took my mom away with lung cancer is still a mystery to me. We don't have to understand all the questions we have to ask God. We just believe by faith. I struggle to be a good christian too, I think it's just human to be selfish and prideful that why he gave up his life to take away our sins. I am sorry you are feeling insecure with your retirement years and sad that you do not have another child. I am also on medication and maybe for the rest of my life. Don't know about the future but God will take care of us, the ill and the handicapped do not get despised by God even if other humans do. I heard in China you cannot download a free copy of the bible on your phone. And over here we take it for granted that we get to study his words. He is real and he is all powerful, all knowing and in control. Thanks for your honesty in sharing about your parents and that time is ticking by. Yes, I agree Sketcher, faith is defined by an individuals belief, and therfore not based on tangible evidence: hence the reason it is called faith as opposed to factual evidence. |

PS.,Although faith is more often based on a religeous belief ,
we can also have faith in people and infact our own ability,
so it has much more than a spiritual concept.

PPS., For example I have faith in a God of my understanding
and equally folk that I beleve in.
I see no difference in the meaning whether it be spritual or secular in nature!

And yes I agree Walter time is passing by for us all.
When we are young we do not think of growing old,
its probley the last thing on our mind.
In middle age our thoughts become more realistic,
and measured in the sense, that we start to become aware
that life as we know it, will some day be no more; when our humanity concludes.

PS., The good news is in my opinion..
that we live on in a hereditary way.
By that I mean from one generation to the next.
Hence the reason life goes on indefinitely
through our DNA, proven by the scientific
fact that we humans have lived on earth for milleniums'.

As far as your parents that you are concerned abuot in term of their age,
I can say this for I'm in my seventy eighth year. so an 'oldie' like them..
I trust thet they live as long as they want and hopefully never want as long as they live!

You are right about faith.
I hope the culture exchanges between China and English speaking Countries can keep going on.
Also, I hope the auto manufacturers can sell their all types of cars in Chinese market.

Although, there are some obstacles and some potential uncertainties between the cultural exchanges and economic cooperations of China and English speaking Countries. But, there would be cultural exchanges after the breaks.

We have talked about "God", philosophy, Einstein, physics, China, and all kinds of topics.

I would like to think so, the thing is our human failings get in the way of a better understanding of each other. Not so much at our level of interaction with each other but at an international level country wise. For exanple East versus West, or communism versus capitalism.It is the politicians that create the tension by that I mean, not the people but those who lead us. And just to add I have no problem with any system of government that works for the many and not just for the few! |

You mean that it is the difference between east and west or the difference between Capitalism and Communism make the world full of tension. I think that it is just some of the reason But not all. In history, the contradiction between east and west had not emerged, and the world at that time is not a safe place for everybody. There were wars now and then.
Now, in the time of Internet, we still can see the world is not a safe place for everybody.I think it is the conflicts of core interests of different Countries.
Also, the Bible says that the God make the people on the earth have different kinds of languages and make people couldn't understand one another and the people on the earth couldn't united.

I do not think or beive that the differnce between capitalism and commusm is the sole reason for current world tension.
Howeer I do think it plays a significant role.
Ideology plays a big part, take the collapse of the soviet union for intance of three decades ago.
Thirty countied gned their independence from Russia, and now Ptutin wants to get them back.
The current war triggerred by Russia with Ukraine is a prime example of that.
I could go further Walter I prefer rather not. This east west divide is much more complcated than that.
It goes beyond two world wars... where land grab, and genocide , amongst other atrocities took place on all sides.
The good news is we are friends, through mental health fellowship despite conficting and contadictory world wide
political views and that is all that counts at a personal level!

On the political front Walter,
I regard myself as a socialist somewhere between capitalism and communism.
therefore by definition, not totally on one side or the other.
For both, in my opinion, have their positive and negative values... by that I mean
the cost and benefit analysis economically speaking...
when it comes to benifiting their respective countrywide population.
again by that I mean rich and poor.....
and the unfair divide between the the two.
In other words neither side provides a sense of total welbeing for their citizens, only
a modicum of same., in either direction.
In the year 2022 that should not be the case.
