If the answer is yes or no however, you were you were stranded on a desert island anyway...
and you were allowed five books and a similar amount of music and one luxury
what would you choose...

When Martin Popplewell was 15 years old he watched the film
The Blue Lagoon starring Brooke Shields and Christopher Atkins.
From then on he was determined to live as a castaway on an uninhabited Pacific Island with a girl Friday

I think I would go insane if alone on a island.
But then again, I hope I have another Wilson!

Wilson - his immaginary friend.
Remember he was isolated and had no one to talk too.

Anyhow I think I would only survive for a couple days as a castaway. It would drive me nuts not being able to shower lol

Tom Hank's version of isolation doesn't appeal to me. Swiss Family Robinson by Johann David Wyss was a favorite novel as a young man: "The Robinson clan flees the reign of Napoleon to start afresh in New Guinea. When their ship gets damaged en route, the family takes refuge on a deserted island. The Robinsons learn to live in the wild, have various adventures and build an impressive house in a tree. However, while island life is full of excitement, the question of whether to return to civilization looms."
I pretty much lived in trees for a few youthful years following the Robinson's lead. We've all been forced to go beyond our tribal sensibilities. Most of us live in condensed concrete prisons. That desert island sounds mighty good...with a very limited population. If Tom had had Helen on that island, he'd still be there.
I must say; if I'd seen the author, I might have skipped the book.

I don't think I could for very long alone, but it might not be too bad for a fortnight or so with someone I like then we get rescued and have that memory.
