Former Vice President Joe Biden is projected to have defeated Donald Trump and will become the 46th president of the United States, capping a dramatic election that saw the president prematurely declare victory after the Democratic nominee spent months declaring him unfit for office.
Mr Biden, now declared as the president-elect after his third White House bid, secured the presidency after the Associated Press declared him the winner in Pennsylvania.
Its 20 Electoral College votes put him over the 270 needed to win, stamping the Trump presidency with a 20 January expiration date.
The AP had already called Arizona and its 11 Electoral College votes for Mr Biden, although other outlets waited for the full result.
Counts were still ongoing in two other swing states with close margins: Georgia and Nevada.

Donald Trump has fired off a barrage of tweets with unfounded claims about electoral fraud
... including that 'tens of thousands' of votes were illegally cast !

Well, we can all breathe a collective sigh of relief because Donald J. Trump just lost his re-election bid. The election was just called for Joe Biden which means, come Wednesday, January 20, 2021, our shared four-year nightmare will finally (finally!) be over.
There will no doubt be a lot of chaos, craziness, and challenges in the weeks, months, and possibly years ahead, but at least we won’t have a racist, homophobic president in the White House making everything 100X worse.

You may wonder that why I from the UK
should be so thrilled that Trump has lost the election.
It is because whatever country we live in whoever is in the white house
determines so much of what is happening worldwide.
In my opinion his term of office has been disastrous in many ways.
His dismal focus on the Covid 19 pandemic .. where by the US has
four percent of the world's population and yet twenty percent
of the virus infection.
What did he call it in the early days a little flu like virus that would soon go away?
His termination of providing funds to the World Health despite the pandemic
and then there is his opting out of the Paris accord on climate change which
he dismissed the science behind it.
I could go on and on but for the time being enough for now.

So if you would like to debate his tenure in office;
Please feel free to do so. Because your view is as valid as mine!

Without going back into policy as I indicated earlier I wouldn't for the time being... the fact we are about to have a female vice-president, (who happens to a person of colour), is also a major obstacle we have conquered.

Yay!!!!! ❤️❤️ People are celebrating over here in the streets amongst the covid but they are that happy I guess. It's going to be a long journey to January as to where we can begin a path back to some normalness. I praise God for this outcome.

Thank you Michelle for endorsing what I have said so far. You, and I are delighted that goes without saying.
However, for those if there are any here... saying (who are Trump supporters), who claim the election was a fraud as the current president is claiming...
To them, I appeal by to them to debate not hate, our opposing views!

I said what I did in my previous post which is vey much in aligned to my signature here drafted when I first enrolled to this community of ours since the beginning of my tenure here.. it is the following...
Let us celebrate Diversity
and shun Adversity from whatever
quarter it presents itself.
It is there and the bottom of all my sharing posts here... and I have had no reason to change such sentiment over the years.

When does Joe Biden become president?
First the votes need to be certified in each of the states. That's usually a formality and happens in the next few weeks.
It's written in the US Constitution that the new term of office begins on 20 January at noon.
It happens at a ceremony called the inauguration which takes place in the capital, Washington DC. The new president and vice-president take an oath of office administered by the Supreme Court chief justice.
So expect to see Joe Biden and Kamala Harris inaugurated on 20 January 2021.

I have just watched Joe Biden's speech and it was anything, that frequently Tump alludes to 'sleepy Joe Biden'. No lethargy detected in his address to the nation.
It will be all over the tv networks to watch at your leisure.
I found it most inspirational as well as conciliatory to all... no matter where you live and whatever your political leanings.

Let us all hope, that a priority in his presidency he will commit to focusing on the corona virus big time, now that there are something like 240.000 mortalities within the country.
Not to mention over a 100.000 infections a day currently.

To me it was not about trump or biden. It was about corona virus, lost lives and solidarity working with other countries on this virus, healthcare, racism, sperated children at the border, hate and separation of Americans, working with other countries on issues that matter for us all and that is where my trust went to the one who speaks these things.
