Hello all, My pet bird of 15 years has been diagnosed with avian bornavirus and very sick at the moment. I desperately need prayer. He should have outlived me. I'm very sad. I've been running him back and forth to the vet frequently trying to save him. I won't let him suffer much longer though if things don't turn around quickly. I am at a loss. I know God sometimes has reasons for things and I will understand someday why I go through the things I go through. I have been teary eyed since yesterday. The poor little guy don't deserve this and he's still looking at me with that head tilt and cute little face when I talk to him. He gave me kisses last night. This is so sad for me.

Yes, I have it Michelle and will keep in touch with you also.
I trust you and Hercules can become a partnership in this possible new adventure and I will, (health and age permitting), do my bit also, at a secondary level... if that be at all possible!

I think this a rather apt quotation.. at this particular point time, when we are 'up in the air' as what to do next...
“Everything is determined, the beginning as well as the end,
by forces over which we have no control.
It is determined for the insect as well as for the star.
Human beings, vegetables, or cosmic dust,
we all dance to a mysterious tune,
intoned in the distance by an invisible piper.”

Yes David if we can do it together. 2 admin. I can help and you can help. I feel we have to give it one more shot but I would like to say did I used to work for a company and they would have me take care of the internet and the web site. If it's not a website that's paid for that usually doesn't come up in Google. So the only traffic that we may get would be from others on this site. You know the proboards. This could be why nobody has came on like other places. But none of us can really afford to pay as it's expensive to pay for a regular site so that it gets traffic. These are just things I learned while taking care of my old bosses website. You give a company all kinds of search terms and you pay for them to have your site come up when people search those terms and that's kind of how sites work.

I can not do better than pray for you and your bird, except to have now learned a bit about the Avian Borna Virus, or Proventricular Dilatation Disease.
I hope your vet is advising to feed help nutritious pellets to try and help your bird maintain weight.
Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs may also slow the progression of the disease.
That is all I learned about treating such a disease.
May God help and have mercy on your bird, you, and us all.

Thank you all so much for the prayers and thank you hercs for alerting me to the site being reopened. Medicated, thank you so much! It warms my heart that you took time to look into the borna virus. Yes he stayed in the hospital twice. His proventiculus was inflamed and he was terribly anemic. They put him on metcam the anti inflammatory in which he is still on. We changed his diet and I am happy to report that he is doing a lot better for now at least. At the onset of illness he only weighed 204 grams which is very skinny for his breed. He is now 240 grams. Also his blood work was horrible. He was anemic at 20 when supposed to be 45. He is now over 45! It can only be explained that God worked a miracle that he is doing do well. At one point I was at the small door of his cage looking in and tears rolling down my face. He walked over to me and tilted his head and kissed me even as sick as he was. I told him please don't die on me.
Thank all of you and thank you Jesus!!
