I wish that back when I was in kindergarten that we had been taught any foreign language, and then had further study each year to continue learning it or even learn multiple languages.
Nowadays, my great nephews learned Spanish in both pre-kindergarten and kindergarten. Not sure if it is still taught to them daily but it would be nice if they were.

"Live Free or Die" is the official motto of the U.S. state of New Hampshire, adopted by the state in 1945.[1] It is possibly the best-known of all state mottos, partly because it conveys an assertive independence historically found in American political philosophy and partly because of its contrast to the milder sentiments found in other state mottos.
The phrase was adopted from a toast written by General John Stark, New Hampshire's most famous soldier of the American Revolutionary War, on July 31, 1809. Poor health forced Stark to decline an invitation to an anniversary reunion of the Battle of Bennington. Instead, he sent his toast by letter:[2]
Live free or die: Death is not the worst of evils. By the time Stark wrote this, Vivre Libre ou Mourir ("Live free or die") was already a popular motto of the French Revolution.[3] The English romantic poet William Wordsworth also adopted this Revolutionary motto when he composed the line, “We must be free or die, who speak the tongue that Shakespeare spoke”.[4]
The motto was enacted at the same time as the New Hampshire state emblem, on which it appears.[5

Paul
The motto sounds too extrem to me. We have many options instead of death. In China, people want to live a better life instead of living free.
We cherish socoal harmoney.

If you want to know of some Chinese culture, you had better get to know of some Chinese history and philosophy. In ancient China, philosophiers, especially (Confucious) introduced his theory to the emperors at that time how to manage a state or (a country) in case that there were lots of chaos. First, he define three relations:
Emperor and Chancellos, Husband and wifes, Father and sons. In general in the three relations, the first three ones( emperor, husband, father) are subjects and the second three ones(Chancsllors, wifes, sons) are objects. that means the first three ones dominate the second three ones.
This is just a little bit of Confucious' theory. In China, people cherish social harmoney and social order in stead of freedom.

At the same time, we are learning the civilization from western countryes. We have court and laywer to maintain social order and fairness. Now, one husband can only marry a wife to organize a family. Also, you can divorce you wife and marry another one.
