"Make America great again"
The election that brought Donald Trump to power ten weeks ago as now come to fruition.... Now that he has accepted the oath of office , we have at least four years of this president in the White House .
As I watched the ceremony it still feels unreal to me... it is perhaps the the boldest act of democracy that America has ever known for the man often professed to hate Washington and the politics that go with it.... is now the heart beat of the US government.
His inaugural address I felt was entirely consistent with the His brand in that it reached out mainly to those who got him there This was not an appeal to the better angels of our nature... nor lesser the 'fearing fear for fear itself' this was a stump speech for getting across the winning post for those who brought him victory not those who choose the losing side... which would have went someway to healing divides in support of a more united country.
I felt there was as strong sense nationalism in what he said, in place of hope for a more united world order also.
I say also if you marry it up with what i intimated in my last paragraph about uniting the country if that be at all possible. With all the connotations that history bestows on such nationalistic tendencies ... no matter what country not only in the past but also in the present has deployed such a political stance!

I wonder how he will affect Canada and other nations. I predict he'll be better than George W, I hope that because he's already a billionaire he won't take bribes for instance. Hopefully things won't get so bad it'll have to be like the French revolution, in some parts of the world it is we're lucky so far. Oliver Cromwell was a maverick. Someone called him the father of British democracy. I'm doing a little history searching just looking things up. I think most countries have tried new politics and systems when what's currently being used isn't working, goes against what the majority want, they are always going on about how they want "Change". Today the President of the United States called the media "the most dishonest human beings on earth".
This is very dangerous talk where the power of the fourth estate gets curtailed.
You know I kind of thought it was just gamemanship to gt ratings when he ran with these comments on the election trail. I thought he would reign it in once elected.
Today 100 000+ people protested him across the world. If there is a march in my city I will now go on it. Leave the press alone Trump.
The president simply can not make these reckless statements.

Nothing's surprising me. Once he made his picks for his cabinet...his motives became clear. The tension here is fierce...people are deliberately avoiding conversation on the subject because of hysterical reactions. My worst nightmare is an angry Trump with total access to the worlds most lethal military machine.
The Secretary of Education has purchased the job with $200 million in contributions to the Republican Party which has abandoned all principles. They want to privatize everything, destroy all unions, and create a permanent underclass. I had hoped some of what appeared as Trump's personality was, in reality, just showmanship...now I see he showed us exactly who he was and is. I am not optimistic.

I have a had a think about it. Trump is unwell. I don't know what is wrong with him, but these comments are not balanced. Let's not get worked up by him. I plan to, hopefully, take everything in my stride and not become unsettled.

True...don't let this stuff get you down. There's nothing we can do about it anyway. For what it's worth: I believe all things happen for a reason. With that in mind, relax and let things naturally develop in the sure knowledge that they will lead to a natural conclusion.
